THE VAULT OF HORROR presents the 2012 Cyber Horror Awards--the first horror film awards decided by the online horror-blogging/writing community. The fifth annual installment should be the biggest one yet, with participation from all across the vast horror blogosphere. If you're a blogger or other online horror critic and haven't received a ballot, please let me know and I'd be happy to include you!
Tomas Alfredson, Let the Right One In Bryan Bertino, The Strangers Ryuhei Kitamura, The Midnight Meat Train Matt Reeves, Cloverfield James Watkins, Eden Lake
"What an honor to be recognized by such a worthy cadre of horror journalists. I owe much of this honor to my 60+ crew members here in Los Angeles who worked around the clock to get the amazing creatures and MUFX ready for the shoot in Vancouver. We lost count of the monsters, goblins, zombies and mutants after awhile but seeing them jump out on screen in such a fantastic film reminded me how hard we all worked to pull that off. I will toast this award tonight. Thank you for recognizing the important value of horror movies." - David Leroy Anderson, 2012 winner for Best Makeup (The Cabin in the Woods)
"I am very grateful that all of you are looking at everything in detail. That encourages us all to keep [at] our hard and creative work. I am not very familiar with the horror genre--it was the first film in that genre in my career, and it was a lot of fun. Special thanks to all you journalists that keep your eyes wide open!" - Magali Guidasci, 2009 winner for Best Costume Design (The Wolf Man) “I cannot successfully find the words that can express how truly honored I am that you decided to select my score for Drag Me To Hell for the Bernard Hermann Best Score Award. Especially since it is because of my love of Bernard Hermann's film music that I decided to become a film composer. God, this is a dream come true. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!”- Christopher Young, 2009 winner for Best Score (Drag Me to Hell) "Awesome! Thanks, at least it won something..."- Richard Kent Burton, 2009 co-winner for Best Visual Effects (Coraline) "Thanks very much! We are very proud of our work on The Ruins...and [it] was a pleasant surprise to see the work honoured in such a way."- Rising Sun Pictures, 2008 co-winner for Best Visual Effects (The Ruins) "I'm so proud that I was the first to receive your 'Bernard Hermann Award'. And maybe even more proud that I got it from people who really know about film, and horror film in particular." - Johan Soderqvist, 2008 winner for Best Score (Let the Right One In)
"Very proud to be the first ever to pick up this amazing prize."- Hoyte Van Hoytema, 2008 winner for Best Cinematography (Let the Right One In)
"Thanks...It means a lot coming from the online horror community."- David Hackl, 2008 winner for Best Production Design (Repo! The Genetic Opera)
